PARTICIPANTS

Claire Carey: Her short memoir, “Waves,” was named the Second Place Winner for the Pacific Northwest Writers Association’s 2011 Literary Contest in the Adult Short Topic Category (Article/Essay/Memoir).

ALUMNI

Julie H. Case (2007) has left her position as Managing Editor of Columns magazine and has returned to freelancing. She is editor of the 2012 Washington State Visitors Guide and a contributing writer for such magazines as Fast Company, Alaska Airlines Magazine, AAA Journey, Seattle Met and more.

Katie Eberhart (2010): Her poems, “The Place Where You Go to Listen” and “Aurora,” earned Honorable Mentions in the Fairbanks Arts Association Statewide Poetry Contest, May 2011. Katie also taught a successful 3-session Poetry Workshop at the Palmer Senior Center, Palmer, Alaska.

Holly Hughes (2006): Her anthology, Beyond Forgetting: Poetry and Prose about Alzheimer’s Disease, earned Honorable Mention from the American Medical Writers Association, Public/Health Care category.

M. J. Iuppa (2006) was named Finalist for her fiction chapbook entitled, Between Worlds, in the Summer, 2011 Split Oak Press Prose Chapbook Contest.

Adrian Gibbons Koesters (2007) has been appointed Senior Poetry Reader at Prairie Schooner magazine.

Tina Schumann (2009): Her poem, “Praising the Paradox,” was named a finalist in the 2011 National Poetry Series (out of 1300 submissions).

FACULTY

Adrianne Harun’s fiction story, Lost in the War of the Beautiful Lads, was chosen by Jhumpa Lahiri as Finalist for AWP’s 2011 Grace Paley Award for Short Fiction.
