Every July, four cohorts of students gather in the shade of giant trees on campus at Pacific Lutheran University for summer residency. The graduating cohort takes comfort in the familiarity of their fourth residency, while at the same time preparing to say goodbye—the incoming cohort meets in person for the first time and quickly bonds over dorm life and a love of writing.
